In AP lang and comp last week we had to read an essay on different views on AP classes. A lot of them were about the AP exam at the end of the year, but it got my mind thinking.
There is a lot of talk on that you should take AP classes. They say it is to help yourself which I can believe. I mean of course they want us to be the best we can. But im starting to think that there is a hidden reason. I mean why else would they pressuse kids who are obviously not ready to take AP classes to be in them? It is for scores!
They pursuade us by making the GPA higher. If you take a certain ammount and do good you get your picture in the display case. They make most, not all, of the cool teachers teach AP classes. I think there is just a lot of secret pursuading involved in this process.
They want to have the best school status possible so they pressure us into taking classes that are very hard. It is just like High School. They want the best status possible so they will do whatever it takes.
Now I am not saying that they don't actually want us to do well. I think that they do, and I mean, I think it is good that they are encouraging us to take classes to prepare us for college. I am currently in two AP classes and I think they are both helping me become a better student in every class.
If the GPA wasn't raised, I don't think I would take them. I know some colleges unweight the grades, but as far as high school goes, I think it is a helping factor in enrollment. I also personally like the idea of getting out of a semester of college with taking the class in highschool. If you take it in college it is still good because you have already taken a bit easier version of the class.
Overall, I don't really have a major point to this blog. I just have had a couple of thoughts about it all and decided to share them with whoever reads this!
